We are excited to announce that starting on September 29th, Alex Kaylor will be conducting a goalie clinic from 5:30pm until 6:30pm at DiCicco Field at the High School. We intend to continue this each Friday if there are enough kids that would like to get this training from Alex.
There is a link below that MUST be used to confirm your attendance to the clinic. Failure to sign up by the Thursday evening prior to the clinic will CANCEL the clinic for that week. Please follow the link below to sign your child up if you are interested. Thanks!
Morning Coaches. It was requested that we post some information related to rules since the changes have taken place this year. Darren Hobbs, the interim Coaching Director, has done some research into the subject and has composed this information below. Please take a look at it when you have a moment. The information includes information from CJSA, FIFA, as well as information from the Connecticut referee site. All is good information to familiarize yourself with the rule changes. As always, if you have any questions, make sure you bring it to the next Coaches meeting so we can discuss.
The 2017-2018 season brought in new modified rules for youth soccer games.
It continues the birth year (rather than school year) registration philosophy and organizes the modified rules into five groups:
The team, roster, field and ball sizes increase with age, as does the game duration and the applicability of the full rules of the game. This chart gives a quick overview:
State of Connecticut Law Regarding Concussions in Youth Soccer
STATE OF CONNECTICUT LAW REGARDING CONCUSSION AWARENESS IN YOUTH SPORTS
Effective January 1, 2016 all CJSA clubs are required to “make available a written or electronic statement regarding concussions to each youth athlete and a parent or legal guardian of each youth athlete participating in the youth athletic activity. Such written or electronic statement shall be made available upon registration of each youth athlete and shall be consistent with the most recent information provided by the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding concussions.”
Our Club (WGDRSC) will be complying with this new rule in the following ways:
(1) Information regarding concussions is posted on the website under the "Parents Resource" tab - Health and Fitness Section.
(2) Information regarding concussions will be provided at the time of electronic and in-person registration.
(3) A general email reminder will be sent to parents at the start of the season.
